JAWS Statement on Netanyahu, “israel,” & the United Nations
That same imperialist system sponsors Netanyahu and his spiraling colony as they act with impunity in Palestine, Lebanon, and across the region. It is fitting that Netanyahu was rumored earlier this week to consider handing off his UN speaking gig to another criminal in his government. As repugnant as Netanyahu is, he is also just another replaceable cog in the death machine that is trampling this planet.
We must organize to end this entire horrific imperialist system, and we hope to see you in the streets to build power toward that goal.
JAWS statement on NYU’s updated Non-discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy
Jews Against White Supremacy (JAWS) is deeply disappointed by New York University (NYU)’s updated Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment (NDAH) policy. This policy, which defines “Zionist” as a protected class, the same as “Jew” or “Israeli,” serves only to stifle anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian speech and criticism of Zionism as an ideology and political project. By defining Zionism as a core part of Jewish identity, this policy not only minimizes and erases anti-Zionist and non-Zionist Jews, but also reinforces a long-standing antisemitic conflation with Zionism and Jewishness.
JAWS condemns the sale of stolen Palestinian land
We cannot stand for any sales of stolen land in the zionist entity and its settlements to be brokered in our communities. JAWS decries any smearing of protests against these settler real estate events as anti-Semitic. Propagandists have been glomming onto the fact that this series has been hosted at synagogues, ignoring that it is the upholding of colonial violence that profanes these spaces. Zionism must be dismantled anywhere and everywhere. As Jews, we cannot shy away from confronting this white supremacist ideology that has taken hold of many of our communities, or from building alternative organizations and institutions dedicated to liberation and justice.
JAWS NYC Condemns Chauvinism and Normalization
JAWS NYC unequivocally condemns both the attendance of Andrew deBuys (AKA Rathbone) of the normalizing Doha Forum as well as his targeted outburst at a Palestinian woman who critiqued the event.
We affirm that Palestinians are the leaders in their own liberation movement; as allies, our role is one of solidarity with Palestinian resistance in its principled struggle against the zionist occupation.
