Statement on the Martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar

On October 16th, Yahya “Abu Ibrahim” Sinwar was martyred in combat with Zionist forces in Rafah. He will surely be remembered as a valiant fighter and hero. He now joins the iconic cannon of anti-colonial freedom fighters and thinkers such as Frantz Fanon, Che Guavara, Ho Chi Minh, Ghassan Kanafani, and indeed his own comrade Ismael Haniyeh. 

Yahya Al-Sinwar was martyred with a keffiyeh wrapped around his head and a gun in hand. He did not die hiding in a shelter, as the coward Netanyahu is sure to do. He died among his people. As Chairman Mao once said, “To die for the people is weightier than Mount Tai, but to work for the fascists and die for the exploiters and oppressors is lighter than a feather.” Sinwar died for the people, and his death is indeed weightier than Mount Tai. His martyrdom expels Zionist lies that he was hiding in tunnels allowing his people to die above his head. Not only was he a commander in the struggle against the occupier, he was a fighter also. 

While Sinwar was a prisoner within Occupied Palestine, he advanced the struggle for freedom for Palestinian political prisoners. He oriented the Islamic Resistance Movement to this struggle and advocated unabashedly for the liberation of all freedom fighters from the Zionist prisons. Additionally, he became fluent in Hebrew and studied the ideology of the aggressor. He also wrote a novel chronicling the story of the Palestinian under occupation which is sure to be studied for generations.

Yahya Al-Sinwar was said to be a leading strategist in the groundbreaking Al Aqsa Flood operation on October, 7th, 2023. We, as decolonial and anti-imperialist Jews, take the phrase “by any means necessary” to heart. We extend our admiration to Sinwar for taking part in this operation. 

Jews Against White Supremacy commends Sinwar for his martyrdom in the struggle for the liberation of his people and the defeat of Zionism, Fascism, Racism, and Imperialism. In his lifetime, Yahya Sinwar destroyed the prestige of the Zionist entity forever destroying the myth of its invincibility. We have caught a glimpse of the horizon on the road toward liberation and nothing will stop us!
